Hmmm Science-Fiction... I've never really known what to make of it. I've been exposed to Sci-Fi for the greater part of my young life, as my mom has always had a slightly unhealthy obsession with all things intergalactic. Whenever I come across something Sci-Fi related, I instantly paint memories of my dear mother donning her beloved pastel moo-moo at 1:00am, propping herself up on our living room sofa and nursing a Diet-Coke while watching an episode of Star Trek that she must have seen seven or eight times before. I myself never really caught on to the whole Science-Fiction craze; it's a bit too far-fetched for my taste. Add to that, I consider myself more of a non-fiction guy. I used to be addicted to those Disney books that introduced eight-year-olds to different cultures from around the world. They’d tell you all about skiing in Switzerland, sailing across Greece, eating puff pastries in Pari…okay I’m getting off track. But in Science Fiction’s defense, I never got around to giving it a fair try. I guess I’ve always been a little intimidated by the complex dialogue and alien-human love triangles. But alas, it’s only appropriate that I finally grant Science-Fiction the opportunity it deserves. Who knows...you may see me at the next Star Trek convention! Okay, probably not. But I’ll almost certainly watch another episode of Firefly if I get bored.
